800 Protesters are on Sunday, the 28.01.2024 the call of the newly founded alliance “Kassel against the right” followed, to protest against the AfD and the societal shift to the right. The Kassel AfD had previously invited people to a New Year's reception that day. This had to be postponed and then canceled completely.
Two weeks before the Hessian state elections, numerous parties were, as always, present in the Kassel interior, to take advantage of the sunny election campaign weekend. For the AfD, however, Saturday went differently than planned.
Am 6. On December 1st, Antifa Kassel organized a demonstration against the regular regulars’ table of the Alternative for Germany in the pub “Zur Marbachshöhe”. Because the regulars' table has so far taken place in secret, this will have particularly annoyed the currently rather ailing district association.
About 100 people were last Saturday, the 5. November, followed the appeal of the Kassel solidarity group for the imprisoned anti-fascist Lina. The Kassel-born student has been sitting since 5. November 2020 in custody, because the federal prosecutor accuses her, to have been involved in the planning and implementation of actions against neo-Nazis.
Last Saturday the 4. September demonstrated in Kassel for example 200 People for the release of the anti-fascist Lina. The initiative organized on Liberation Day “Anti-fascist May” a demonstration with several intermediate rallies, at the up to 500 People participated. Under the motto “Remember. resistance. Consequences. " attention was drawn to right-wing activities in Kassel and left-wing struggles were taken to the streets.
Lina comes from Kassel, is 25 year old, Student and has been in custody for four months. The federal prosecutor accuses her of participating in two attacks on a bar known as a neo-Nazi meeting place in Eisenach and its operator. We took a closer look at the case and talked to Lina's mother about it, how it is, when the daughter is suddenly supposed to be “Germany's most dangerous left-wing extremist”.
