In the era of the Corona crisis, the debate about unconditional basic income is booming again. Both under left, as well as among conservatives or liberals, the demand is met with harsh rejection or enthusiastic support. There is no consensus among the supporters when it comes to the specific implementation.
But there is a much older left demand, that seems to be losing importance over the debate about the BGE: the demand for a reduction in working hours is as old as the workers' movement itself. are 8 Hours the end of the story? Can we not counter digitization and the new mass unemployment in the global south by a new demand for a radical reduction in working hours??
