Taking this statement to heart, The duo Sunswept Sunday is dedicated to the music of Duke Ellington.
since 2020 Stuttgart drummer Daniel Kartmann and Berlin guitarist Torsten Papenheim explore the work of the great American composer with attention to detail and a sense of dramaturgy.
Sunswept Sunday plays lesser-known pieces by Duke Ellington, which were mostly created in the 50s and 60s. The duo makes it clear with their interpretation, that Ellington's work also almost 50 Years after his death and beyond the classic big band line-up, it remains exciting.
“Halfway To Dawn” – Sunswept Sunday's debut album was released in January 2023 released on LP and CD by Ma Records.
