Zahhāk is a noise sludge trio from Aachen, Germany, the end 2021 Founded, decided as members of previous projects, to form a new band, with a focus on heavy sludge, Noise and drone.
Zahhāk's music is difficult to narrow down and encompasses everything from slow, hard-hitting sludge and feedback-filled noise jams to highly progressive and melodic compositions. In addition, the influences of traditional Iranian rhythms are fused with the sludge sound, which leads to new and unheard combinations. The members also draw inspiration from bands like Grief, Corrupted, Bongripper, Sumac and Sunn O))).
Zahhāk is named after a king from Iranian mythology, of tyranny, Corruption and oppression of the youth embodied. He is a broken being, which is manipulated by evil spirits and only kept alive by eating human flesh.
