Estimated 250 Participants found each other today, am 08.02.2020 in Kassel at a rally against the AfD New Year's reception. The reception with high functionaries of the right-wing radical party took place in the Lohfelden industrial area, in the "event location" glass house. The counter rally protested not far from the conference hall.
Lots of speeches discussed the latest developments in the right-wing party. Not most recently the alleged Lübcke murderer and neo-Nazi Stephan Ernst had contacts with the local AfD, attended and helped with meetings Election campaign through donations and posters.
Last weekend, the AfD Thuringia tactically supported the market-cliberal candidate in the state elections 5% FDP party, who was ultimately elected Prime Minister. Even if the last word has not yet been spoken: This maneuver was commonly treated as a breach of the dam in the cooperation between the conservative-economic liberal forces and the neo-fascists.
A broad alliance had been initiated by the AStA students' representation in Kassel, which had called for anti-fascist protests. Oddly enough, involved alongside many left-wing groups in the alliance: The liberal university group in Kassel.
The protest took place under the eyes of a massive police presence. The rally site was completely fenced off with Hamburg bars and the building was closely guarded by riot police.
